Here’s Another Video In the
“A Clean Computer Is A Happy Computer” Series!
A couple of days ago I talked about how to change your settings in the System Restore program to save space on your hard drive(s).
Today I will show you how to create a restore point manually on your computer.
But first some background notes:
Your computer automatically creates restore points at regularly scheduled times or before certain programs are installed.
However, you can use System Restore to create your own restore points at times other than those scheduled by your computer.
Ok, Let’s get started.
Step 1. Click On Start
Step 2. Click On Help and Support
Step 3. On the next page click on “Undo Changes To Your Computer With System Restore”. Look for it under the “Pick A Task” heading.
Step 4. This will bring you to the “Welcome to System Restore Screen”.
Select the “Create a restore point” option on that page. Then click on “Next”.
Step 5. On this screen there will be a text box for a Restore point description.
Type a description for your restore point that will be easy to remember in case you need to restore your computer later.
The current date and time are automatically added to your restore point.
Before continuing, make sure the you have typed the name correctly because this cannot be changed after your restore point has been created.
Step 6. Click on Create to make your restore point.
After a few seconds you will get another screen that says “Restore Point Created”
It should look like this:
New restore point:
Thursday, January 07, 2010
8:32:42 AM “Name of Restore Point”
Step 7. Click on Close to exit the program or click on Home to perform another task.
You are done.
I hope you will find this helpful.
